Am I good enough to play college tennis and if so, at what level?  These are questions that most serious junior tennis players will one day ask.  The good news is that thanks to ranking systems such as Universal Tennis Rating, it can be much easier for potential tennis recruits to gauge how they compare with current college tennis players than it is for athletes in many other sports.

Analyzing UTR scores can help you put together a list of schools to focus on during the recruiting process, ideally one containing a good mix of “safeties,” “targets,” and “reaches” (i.e., schools that you’re definitely talented enough to play for, schools that you’re likely talented enough to play for, and schools that you might not be quite talented enough to play for…at least not yet).  But it’s not necessarily as simple as comparing your current UTR to the current UTRs of a school’s players.  Below is a step-by-step guide on how to use UTR scores to navigate the recruiting process.
