A Week in the Life of a Power 5 College Tennis Player
What to expect your schedule to be like if you play college tennis at the highest levels
A question that I often get from junior tennis players and their parents is how big a time commitment college tennis involves. The answer is that while college tennis is a significant investment of time pretty much everywhere, the specific commitment required can vary pretty significantly depending on where you play. And it isn’t as simple as “Division I = more time, Division II/III = less time.” There are a wide range of programs within each of the divisions. A top-tier Division III team with a national schedule may involve a much bigger commitment than a Division I team with a more regional schedule.
What follows is a summary of what a typical week looks like for an in-season college tennis player at a Power 5 school (i.e., a program in the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, or SEC).
